Payment

The means of payment in Croatia are larger and better-known credit cards.

We accept: MasterCard, Visa, Diners

We do not accept: pre-paid cards, debit cards, laser, switch cards

A valid credit card is shown as a rental guarantee. Branches reserve the right to block deposits of 300-2000 euros (depending on the selected group of vehicles) as a guarantee. The specified deposit is unblocked at the end of the rental if there is no theft or damage to the vehicle.

In case you do not have a valid credit card, or you do not have enough funds, the branch may refuse to issue a vehicle, in which case you are not entitled to a refund of the reservation.

Conditions for drivers and driver’s licenses

We accept all driving licenses issued by the European Union, as well as international driving licenses written in Latin letters and those in credit card format. All other clients coming from countries outside the European Union must have an international driver’s license.

Minimum age of driver: 21 years

Maximum age of driver: 75 years

The driver must have a driver’s license for at least 1 year.

Extra Charge for Drivers beyond age limits / PER day: 10,00€/per day is applied for drivers between 18-20 years old and 76 -99 years old

The driver is required to present a passport or ID card as proof of identity.

Vehicle groups

Reservations are always confirmed for a group of vehicles and not for an individual model / vehicle. The vehicle on the voucher represents the group (class) of vehicles you have booked. We are not able to guarantee a specific vehicle model. All mentioned vehicles are a model that represents the size, performance, and specifications for this group of vehicles.

Border Crossing

Vehicles cannot be driven outside the borders of Croatia without prior notice.

Cross Border Policy: Cross border rentals are allowed within the European countries. Travel to Turkey is NOT ALLOWED.

Applicable fees for cross border travel are:

EU Countries – 50 EUR per rental

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro – 80 EUR per rental

Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Romania – 180 EUR per rental

All charges above are inclusive of VAT

Prior written authorization is required (ask rental agent at the time of pickup).

One-way rentals

One-way rentals between branches are possible at an additional cost.

Deadline for vehicle collection

We are obliged to keep the vehicle for up to 2 hours after the agreed pick-up time, in case of later arrival you must inform us.

Included in the rental price:

• Third party insurance in accordance with state regulations
• 24-hour roadside assistance
• Taxes & Surcharges

Deposit

The amount of the deposit is usually the value of the vehicle and the fuel deposit. The credit card used for the deposit must be in the name of the driver or additional driver.

Unused car rental days are not subject to a refund.

Additional driver

Each additional driver is agreed and paid directly at the branch and is not included in the basic rental price. Additional drivers must enclose a passport or ID card with a valid driver’s license. The same minimum and maximum age restrictions apply to additional drivers.

Young / Senior driver

Young driver between the ages of 18 and 21 an additional fee of € 10 per day up to a maximum of € 100.

Senior driver between the ages of 75 and 99  an additional fee of € 10 per day up to a maximum of € 100.

Fuel

Fuel is the cost to the customer who must return vehicles with the same amount of fuel that was recorded at pick-up. Any difference is charged at the place of return of the vehicle.

Additional costs paid by the client:

• Penalties and misdemeanors
  The client is responsible for all penalties from parking or any violation. An administrative cost is added to the price.
• Return outside working hours
  Services outside working hours between 22:00 and 08:00 are additionally charged according to the branch price list. (50€/service)
• Delayed vehicles return
  In case the vehicle is returned later than the agreed time, the branch office will charge the cost of the delay.
• Hotel  deliveries:  Hotel deliveries are available with an additional charge of 80€ per way (per service)

Special requirements

Special supplements are possible at the request of the client and may be subject to seasonality and the condition required additionally in the branch, but we cannot guarantee them. In most locations, an additional deposit is required.

• Child seat
  Seats are available at an additional cost and with an announcement of the child’s age. The seats in the vehicle are installed exclusively by the parents.
• Snow chains
  Available at an additional cost
• GPS navigation system
  Available at an additional cost
• Roof rails
  They are not available

Insurance

The client accepts that the insurance during the rental is provided by the company that rents the vehicle and not by the Active Cars SA agent. The customer assumes responsibility for the damage incurred and the cost of the vehicle rental franchise. Active Cars SA does not offer car rental insurance and is not liable in the event of damage.

Basic insurance with the amount of the deductible

Basic insurance is included in the rental amount and reduces your financial obligation to a certain maximum:

900€ for a group A

1000€ for group B,BA,BB, H

1200€ for group B1, C, 

1300€ for group CA, 

1400€ for group D, DD, D1, E1

1500€ for group F, F1D

2100€ for group J, J2, J2A, J3A, K, KA, , P, N

2200€ for group M, MD

2300€ for group M1

* Note: In case of a traffic accident, you are obliged to contact the police and report the events, and send a copy of the police report to the branch office. The basic insurance is not extended beyond the agreed rental date. You can check the details with an agent at the branch.

 Full coverage insurance

Full insurance reduces liability and the obligation to pay to 0 euros. Full insurance is charged per day in the amount of:

13€ for group A, H

15€ for group B, BA, BB, 

16€ for group B1,C,

17€ for group CA, E1, F

19€ for group D, DD, D1, F1D

21€ for group J, J2, J2A, J3A, K, KA, , P, N

26€ for group M, MD, M1

* Note: In this case, too, the driver must have a valid credit card.

Insurance of tires, glass and wheels

AutoUnion rent a car provides an additional option of securing the glass, tires and wheels, in case they are not intentionally damaged or as a result of negligence and negligence.

7€ for group A

9€ for group B, BA, BB, H

12€ for group CA, 

13€ for group E1

• Special note: All damage to the interior of the vehicle is not covered by any insurance (except in the event of an accident). Accordingly, this type of damage can be charged extra at the branch.

Ferry / boat insurance

Vehicles can be transported by ferry to islands within Croatia only after coordination with an agent at the branch. Insurance does NOT cover ferry travel. Additional insurance covering the ferry trip is available upon collection of the car at a surcharge of € 50 per rental.

Exceptions for full, hull and tire, glass, and wheel insurance:

Compensation for any of the following damages is charged directly to the customer, the most important of which are: Antenna, drawers, car lock damage, loss or damage of keys, wipers, car interior, spare key and car jack, hood, lights, fuel plug, damage to the car upholstery, damage to the roof, damage caused by the roof rack and any luggage on it, heavy dirt in the car, personal belongings in the rented car, damage due to negligence, fuel errors, damage to child seats and baby seats, lack of electricity due to forgotten electrical appliances involved, loss of car documents, loss of license plates. AutoUnion rent a car is in no case obliged to replace a flat tire or damage to music devices (radio, CD / mp3 player, etc.).

Towing service costs are not covered by any insurance.

Autounion rent a car will not refund any phone, taxi or hotel costs.

Autounion rent-a-car or rent-a-car company will not be held liable for anyone who drives under the influence of alcohol / drugs, causes intentional damage, driving off-road, driving without care and attention or damage caused by negligence and traffic violations.

The client will accept direct responsibility for such requests. Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle can be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.

Theft insurance

It is included in the price of the reservation, in case of theft or fire you must contact the police and immediately report the incident, and provide a copy of the police report, rental agreement and vehicle keys to the rental location. Liability cannot be waived in the event of theft or damage due to attempted theft (deductible amount applies). Theft protection is not valid after the rental date agreed with the place of collection. Additional insurance

Additional insurances such as ferry insurance, tire, glass, and wheel insurance are available at an additional cost.

Cancellation policy

24 hours prior to arrival no cancellation fee is required, less than 24 hours a cancellation fee equal to the deposit given at the time of booking / confirmation is required.
